WORKSHOPS FOR EDUCATION
We deliver value for money drumming workshops for infant, primary and secondary school pupils. Our workshops are an innovative way to teach key areas of the curriculum or link to themed events in your school, such as Arts Week, Africa Day, Cultures of the World - giving pupils a chance to learn and have fun at the same time. Keeping their attention is never a problem! The content and style of the workshop depends on the age and ability of the children involved and the needs of your school. We always bring 2-3 facilitators to each session, so offer pupils something special - their very own African band to learn and play with! Drumroots also have specific experience in working with pupils with special needs, including Aspergers and Autism. We deliver training for teachers and are available for after school club sessions.

Teachers have commented...

"The drumming was brilliant, everyone had a great time. Drumroots led the sessions well, accommodating all the children and they were sympathetic to the age range and skills of the children. They learnt about the drums, West African culture and some language too. Everyone had a drum to play, learning about beat rhythm and timing. To be honest it would be hard to find anything that didn't go well, it was such a valuable experience for the children and really enriched our activities during Africa week."

"Drumroots workshops were excellent - the whole school was buzzing! The main facilitator was an excellent teacher and lead all the different age groups well. The support facilitators also had a great manner with the children. The team set up and cleared away quickly and efficiently both days and were fully prepared. The quality of the instruments was also good - even our less musical children felt good about the music they made. It was brilliant, just what I'd hoped for!"

"Your visit was a great success and all the children thoroughly enjoyed and gained a lot from the experience.  I appreciated you taking the time to come and talk to me prior to your visit which allowed me to explain some of the difficulties of the children."

"The whole year group really enjoyed the sessions and we had a wonderful day. I am sure we shall book again for next year!"

"I thought your lesson was wonderful and very cool. I loved your taste in music it's funky and vibrant. We all really enjoyed dancing to the rhythm of the drums. I have played those drums before and I love them to bits! I wish I had one at home so that I could play them all the time. The only thing I think could be better is letting me join you when I am older." Loughborough High School pupil (age 11).

"We needed longer! It was impossible not to get caught up with the music."

"The group of children are on the autistic spectrum - I've never seen them so focused for so long and were clearly having a fantastic time."

"The way you involved the children and demonstrated without using language was exactly right for our children."

"Everyone was really friendly and sensitive to the needs of the children."

"We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  This was a fantastic session. All the children participated and loved it!"
