James Brown (1979-2008)  It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the death of our dear friend and band member James Brown. James contracted cerebral malaria during our overland trip to Guinea this winter. He died a week later in hospital. We will all miss James as an inspirational musician, teacher and friend. Welcome! Specialising in the Djembe tradition, Drum Roots is a co-operatively run business, embodying the spirit of togetherness fostered by the music. In West Africa, music permeates all areas of life, from work in the fields to celebrations of rites of passage. Our music and teaching aims to bring people together, with a positive and lasting effect on all.  We aim to develop our experience of teaching, performing and promoting African music and culture, whilst inspiring others to express their individuality and encourage a greater sense of community. |
